The Friends & Family Alpha (0.5.3) is the earliest publicly available build of the WoW client to date.

Though this version of the client is very different, the PDB file remains still an invaluable resource for those who wish to study WoW.

The Alpha Project
This client was revitalized with the creation of alpha-core, a 0.5.3 server emulator written in Python.
The Alpha Project also archives the history of WoW's development, compiling screenshots and videos from WoW alphas and betas.
